History
The creation of Scanstyle International School originated from
the meteoric rise of the company's football team. From operation
as a purely amateur team, the football team with massive financial
support by the company's management and small monthly contributions
from the workforce graduated in 1995 to the national first division
and looked poised for entry into the country's premier league.
Staff at this point appeared split into two factions. Whilst a
faction wanted to support Scanstyle football club into the national
premier division the other felt the money could better be spent
on building educational facilities for their children and those
of the local community. When the issue was put to a full referendum
of the workers, the result was a landslide victory in favour of
building a school for the education of staff and local children.
This had the full support and blessing of Mr. Kwabena Pepera, the
company's Chairman who believed more than forty years ago as at
then that there couldn't be any better investment than good and
sound moral education.
Vision
The school is seeking to turn out graduates with good and sound
moral education, qualitative, enshrined in excellence. The school
must be seen to be not only one of the best in the Brong Ahafo Region
but the nation as a whole.
The short-term plan is to turn out JSS graduates entering the nation's
most endowed Senior Secondary Schools.
The long-term plan is to produce Senior Secondary School graduates
in the area of Science and Technology.
Sponsorship
We have a sponsorship scheme in operation to help provide education
for the children of the lower paid employees at SCANSTYLE. Needy
children from Mim town also enjoy this sponsorship package. These
needy children have varying backgrounds. Some of the children currently
being sponsored have no parents; have disabled parents or parents
who cannot work for various reasons. The sponsor receives regular
updates on his/her child in the form of drawings or letters (where
the child can write) and also school terminal reports. For sponsorship
information click here. The sponsorship
scheme is administered by the UK Fund, based in West Sussex (UK) Limited
Donations
The school continues to enjoy tremendous support and assistance
from the UK in the form of donations like library and textbooks,
sporting equipment , computers and the like.
